Writer's pictureA Glass in Hand

A little bit of red always does some good

How food and wine became my passion.

Life is better with wine and food. That is a known fact. Read any book about ancient Greece or Rome and there will be indications of food and wine. They were so obsessed with the two things, that wherever they went, they always carried vine cuttings and seeds so they could plant wherever they were staying.

I had my first glass of wine when I was a toddler. I drank from my mother’s glass of wine when she wasn’t looking. When she turned around most of the glass was gone. I was sitting right next to it with a smile on my face. There it was, the first indication of a future love.

Food came when I was big enough to stand up next to the stove. I would watch the water boil in a pot, while my mother would cut vegetables for a salad. My mom would tell me to be careful around the stove. I was always curious as to whatever she was doing in there. I loved being around the smells of different things cooking in a pan.

Food and wine have always been important to me and this is how it will always stay. I hope we can share some experiences and have some fun doing it.
